Laura's Legacy Chapter 1.2: Best Job Ever

During breaks in filming, Pat and I have been getting to know each other. He's a good guy, very friendly, and we have lots in common. He's also charismatic and has star power the same as me, plus he's athletic and eco-minded. He loves wind surfing, and talked me into trying it out after filming was finished early one day. We had so much fun!

After all that exertion, we lounged around on the beach, chatting and watching the waves. And trying our best to ignore the paparazzi!

Pat has really helped me out quite a bit with my role, and taught me many acting techniques and other things that will help me in my film career. I think we have a real chemistry together, too. The Director seems very happy with our scenes and says we're fascinating to watch. It probably doesn't hurt that I'm very attracted to him. He seems to really like me, too.

Occasionally we had an afternoon off like the day we went wind surfing, but usually We worked hard and long schedules filming this movie, and some evenings it was quite late when we wrapped up filming. One evening after an intense scene on the beach, we grabbed a bite to eat at the Resort's buffet. Then it was time to get some sleep so we could do it all again the next day.

In between filming, we continued to have long talks, getting to know each other. We talked about acting, about ecology, about fame, and we shared our favorite foods and colors. We talked about all kinds of things.

One day when we were in Pat's Luxury Suite rehearsing the scenes we had to shoot the next day, Pat suddenly leaned over and whispered into my ear; "Laura, it's probably not a surprise for me to tell you that I am extremely attracted to you."

I guess maybe I should have seen this coming, but this caught me off guard. He was a big celebrity and I was just a hopeful wannabe. I reached up and touched his face. "I find you extremely attractive too, Pat, but I'm really not interested in getting involved with a married man", I said. I thought I sounded a little breathless while saying that, but I really did mean it. At least I'm pretty sure I mean it.

"Well, if it makes any difference, my marriage is something the PR people cooked up to publicize one of our films. Julia and I just found our so-called marriage 'convenient' when it comes to discouraging unwanted attention. Besides we do get along great and just have had no reason to change the situation.

"I see." I had heard this rumor before, but I didn't put much stock in it because it wasn't any of my business anyway. But now, it seemed that it was my business. "So you and Julia aren't really committed to your marriage?", I asked.

"No, but I have to be honest and say that I'm really not committed to being in any relationship right now. Except...there seems to be this invisible magnet that keeps drawing us together", he said as he looked into my eyes. "I want to get to know you better".

Talk about being flattered! Then he leaned forward and gently kissed me. A little voice in the back of my head thought this was probably a bad idea, but it felt so good that I didn't pull away
.

In fact, I kissed him back. Afterwards, I said goodnight and hurried off to my room. He probably thought I was a bit of a bird brain but I just wasn't ready for any more than a few kisses.

Laura's Legacy Chapter 1.1: It All Began with Laura

Laura's Legacy

Hi. My name is Laura Herrington. I'm a Lucky, Friendly, Charismatic sim. People say I have Star Power; my lifetime goal is to reach the top of the film career. Oh yeah, and I'm a Hopeless Romantic, always looking for love and romance. (Dramatic sigh!)

That's why I moved to Angel City, the City of Stars, where everyone is charismatic and almost everyone is famous. Not that I've met than many people yet, though! But I was lucky enough to land a job at the studio right away; it's a low level job requiring lots of early morning hours, though. Fortunately I found a vacant apartment right across the street. It's small but the price is right, and being so close to the studio makes it easier to get to work in the mornings after staying up late dancing and buying drinks in the bars and clubs. I've been doing this because I was told that the clubs are my best chance to meet people and gain fame, since I don't know hardly anyone yet.

At work I am constantly star struck! The famous actors and married couple Pat Gabriel and Julia Sterling have been filming another movie there. Every time I have to walk by their set I have to remind myself to get back to work! They live in a lovely mansion on a hill overlooking for ocean. How nice is that? (Swoon!)

My boss is the famous actor Matthew Hamming. Matthew told me he was originally from Bridgeport but moved to Angel City for the warmer weather. The weather is nice and mild here all year long. Personally I think I'm going to miss seeing snow, though!

Matthew has been taking me under his wing lately. He's the one who told me I needed to be seen in the clubs. I think he wants to be more than friends, too, but luckily for me he already has a girlfriend at the moment. Besides, he's got quite the reputation as a ladies' man and I don't want to become famous just for being some famous actor's girlfriend. I do like him as a friend though, and appreciate the help he's been giving me with my acting skills and helping me find good parts. He also often invites me to his parties and club outings, too, and since there are usually paparazzi there I've definitely been getting noticed by the entertainment press.

Matthew also helped me get a few small but meaty parts that have allowed me to get some good experience and exposure. With his help, I just landed a great supporting role in a movie starring Pat Gabriel! I've been jumping up and down with excitement all day! I feel like this might just be my lucky break, the standout role that would gain me even more fame and notice in the film world. Tomorrow I fly out to a small, exotic, tropical island where the movie is being filmed. I am so excited right now I can hardly stand it!

I tossed and turned most of the night because I was so excited, but the morning finally arrived and I sat uncharacteristically fidgeting on the plane until we got to the island. It was beautiful! One of the assistants gave a tour and showed some of us around the resort, including the gym, swimming pool, and also where the food for the crew would be catered. We even got to see one of the Luxury Suites, which was very nice.

My room was not as fancy as the luxury suite where the lead actors of the movie were staying, but the accommodations were quite nice and the views of the ocean were breathtaking. I couldn't be happier! Filming was due to start tomorrow and I could hardly wait!

About that Sims 3 Story...

It's finally coming. Soon. Just polishing up Chapter One. Sorry it took me so long!

It's set in a custom world called Angel City by Coasterboi. The world can be found on the Exchange  here. It's a nice world, much smaller than his previous versions of Los Aniegos, but it runs much better. Although I did have to turn off all the horses and wild animals using Twallan's Register mod. But that completely got rid of the little lag I was getting when I first started to play. It's a pity, but those darn wild horses just won't stay out of the downtown areas of the world.

I plan to play this as a legacy, although I'll also probably play rotationally with the second gen - providing I can get over my fear of rotating households in TS3. LOL I use just about all of the NRASS mods so I know it should be possible to do it without worry, but I guess we'll see.

How this story came about:

One day I was playing around with the THE RANDOM LEGACY CHALLENGE: http://randomlegacychallenge.blogspot.com/

This was my roll for Gen 1:
Marital Status: Single Parent
Number of Children: 2 Children
Primary Career: Movies (Film)
Generational Goal: Perfectionist

So I started off this game with these goals in mind, but it didn't take long for me to deviate from the challenge. I really don't play challenges because I'm so bad at following the rules! It's more fun for me to just see where the story goes and run with it. I'm not sure yet whether I'll use the random legacy rolls for future generations or not. I might, just to get ideas for new ways to play and new careers that I might have never have tried before - or at least those where my sims have never reached the top before. I don't follow the money restrictions at all - if my sim needs money to carry out a story idea I'm fine with getting them some more money. Having at least some logic in the gameplay is important to me, and it didn't make sense for a celebrity sim in the film career to be so poor so I cheated her up some money when I needed to. I also don't tend to play on the shortest age lengths because time just goes by too quickly in this game. I want to have fun and try things I never got around to trying in TS3.

So anyway, I was inspired to try playing out at least some of the above rolls because it's not something I've done before in the sims. A single parent sim in the film career?! You've got to be kidding! How stereotypical can you get, LOL! As it turns out, I pretty much threw all the rules out the window after a few chapters.

BTW, I put the adult content warning on this blog because my story may get a little too mature for some people. It's not going to be x-rated or anything, but I just wanted people to know that it's not candyland, either. ;)

Anyway, I promise I won't be gone so long this time.
